North Korea and its Christian connections

It's been widely believed by the global public (specifically in social media) that North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, a Communist, is an atheist. Behind closed doors is a different story. Has it ever occurred to anyone to that the Popes was invited to North Korea twice despite the wide claims of Communism oppressing Christians and banning religion there?

Supporting this hypothesis are three churches that are tightly monitored and controlled by the North Korean government, all based in the capital Pyeongyang.

The first is the Bongsu Church, belonging to the Korean Christian Federation and managed by Protestant Corps:

The second is the Chilgol Church, also part of the Korean Christian Federation.

Lastly, there's the Jangchoong Cathedral, which is state-controlled and managed by the Catholic Association.

If North Korea is such a Communist country that opposes Christianity, then why is it that Jong Un's grandfather, Kim lI Sung, was raised as a Presbyterian? This piece of information doesn't just explain where North Korea get the idea to create their "Cult of Personalty" from, but also whose side North Korea's really on. From the same site, Author Jonathan Cheng not only titled Kim Li Sung "The Korean Messiah," a term well known within Christian and Jewish communities, but Pyeongyang was, at time of Li Sung's birth (Kim Li Sung was born in the 1910s), considered the "Jerusalem of the East" and "the most Christianized city in all of Asia." To further prove that Communism comes from Christianity, one user on X clarified in a 2021 post that, in addition to the country inviting the two popes in a later post, North Korea does not punish anyone for going to church.
